Last call for eco products and flyers……..

Would you like to put your products our eco friendly shop in central London on Westbourne Grove, just off Portobello Rd for a flat fee/shared rent of £60.00 per week over the Christmas period?

Sarah Baulch and Lisa Harland are setting up Our Eco Shop for the second year running at 303 Westbourne Grove (opposite Paul Smith) over the next two weeks. They are looking for like-minded designer-makers to be involved in the shop for 7 weeks leading up to Christmas. Rent is shared equally between all involved and all monies on each sale goes to the individual designer.

They will dress shop, change the windows, deal with payments, press and marketing, etc, organise a fabulous opening party and ensure it all runs smoothly. The shop measures 14 by 6 metres and is double fronted with a further generous retail space in its basement.

Their aim is to create a ‘Green Boutique’ full of the great and good from the eco friendly world, with a kind of vintage vibe in terms of the shops décor - all display furniture painted white, or natural wood where possible.

The deadline is Wednesday, the 22nd October and we aim to be open on the 8th November. Monies due on the 23rd October, contracts offered.

We are very excited to be launching green sisters at the Landmark Art Centre Eco Fair this weekend-
Saturday 27 – Sunday 28, 10am–5pm

Green Sisters is an online community of women in green business. Aiming to facilitate sharing of resources, networks, to create a sustainbable future on the planet- NOW!

I co-created Green Sisters with Kate Belcheva, a good friend who runs http://www.ultimatelyeco.com an eco-friendly cleaning service for homes and businesses.
Six Green Sisters will be exhibiting, One Green Earth, Karin Helena Turner Designs, Revampt, Feral, Bags of Change and Flip Side.

The Eco Fair itself…

Climate Camp 08

Arrived at Climate Camp midnight on Thursday, having been laboriously searched by the police under Section 60. Joined the orange group march to the coal power station on Saturday.

The camp was awesome. It was divided into county areas, so we were in the London camp. I spent time in a ‘Be the media’ workshop, chopped wood, helped prepare the vegan food. Used both the ‘poo only’ and ‘wee only’ toilets, enlightening stuff, played ‘In my dreams’ at open mic. All the while under police surveillance, there was almost always a helicopter in the sky, at one point there were three. Large police flood lights lit up the outer rim of the camp. Apparently one floodlight switched on for an hour and half (or something like that) had a larger carbon footprint than the whole camp running for a week!?

£3 million was spent policing this event. One policeman while searching through my bag. Decided my unopened contact lense solution could pose a threat. He opened it, breaking the seal, and proceeded to pour some of the saline solution out. Holding the nozzle of the bottle against his gloves. I got quite cross, in a non-aggressive way, but pointed out that if i got an eye infection i would know who to come to. Then rather stupidly didnt take his contact details. Damn!

Despite some police others were very friendly. I heard one Welsh policeman was brought to tears when a welsch climate camper had been chatting with him and then started sing the welsh national anthem. I met a lovely lady from South Yorkshire police who was caught clapping along to ‘If your happy and you know it, clap your hands’ during the orange march, i gave her a One Green Earth postcard as she had a friend that makes organic cakes.

I met all sorts of different people on the march, anarchists, politicians, communists, green entrepreneurs, but all with a common purpose which united us.

Finally and somewhat reluctantly, we returned to London on Sunday.

Time to get blogging

Ok, enough of my dyslexic (though not qualified), illiterate, constant writers block excuses, I’m starting to blog as of today. I can manage twitter fine, www.twitter.com/onegreenearth and therefore, no more excuses its time to write.

This Sunday I am hosting a female green entrepreneurs support network/eco party, which should be good. I have just painted my sitting room yellow ochre, with eco-paint from the Green Shop http://www.greenshop.co.uk.

Anyway, i will blog something more exciting tomorrow.. or maybe later on..
