Surfers Against Sewage | Not just Surfers, Not just Sewage Summary Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) are a non profit making organisation campaigning for clean and safe water. It was started by a group of surfers on the North Cornwall coast who were literally sick of surfing in sewage polluted water. SAS has been campaigning successfully for 15 years for sewage free seas.image - surfer on beachThe group has also embraced renewable energy, in particluar marine renewables which offer huge potential in providing the nation with clean, green and safe energy. They are part of a Marine Renewables Working Group in the South West that is looking at the potential for deploying wave energy devices off the North Cornwall coast.
SAS is particularly fearful of the impacts climate change could have on our water environment in terms of pollution, flooding and rising sea levels. It is therefore vital we move away from energy sources that pollute and contribute to climate change to cleaner, less damaging sources that harness natural energy from wind, water and sun.
