The Green Giving Co. - Home Summary The idea behind the venture was to provide consumers with a green, reusable alternative to wrapping paper and greeting cards. Both create a significant amount of waste and because of the finishes applied to the paper and card they cannot be recycled and instead end up in landfill sites. Wrapping paper at Christmas time alone accounts for 11,000 tons of waste. Our solution is a product called a Kerchief – these are pieces of material that can be folded and tied in order to wrap up absolutely anything, plus of course they can be used again and again and again, therefore reducing waste, carbon emissions and can save people money. Our greeting cards are made from recycled card and are covered in fabric; inside is a replaceable piece of note paper where you people can write their messages. www.thegreengivingco.comAll of our products are handmade, and the Kerchiefs are made by a women’s education and enterprise project in East London. We are partnered with the charity Traid (Textile Recycling And International Development) www.traid.org.uk who provide us with garments that have been donated to them, and from these we make totally unique Kerchiefs and cards, and in return we support their global poverty prevention projects.
